frv, h8300, m68k, microblaze, openrisc, score, um and xtensa currently
do not register a CPU device. Add the config option GENERIC_CPU_DEVICES
which causes a generic CPU device to be registered for each present CPU,
and make all these architectures select it.Richard Weinberger covered UML and suggested using
per_cpu.Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings

lib: use generic pci_iomap on all architectures
Many architectures don't want to pull in iomap.c,
so they ended up duplicating pci_iomap from that file.
That function isn't trivial, and we are going to modify it
https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/11/14/183
so the duplication hurts.This reduces the scope of the problem significantly,
by moving pci_iomap to a separate file and
referencing that from all architectures.* tag 'for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mst/vhost:

Now all ARCH_POPULATES_NODE_MAP archs select HAVE_MEBLOCK_NODE_MAP -
there's no user of early_node_map[] left. Kill early_node_map[] and
replace ARCH_POPULATES_NODE_MAP with HAVE_MEMBLOCK_NODE_MAP. Also,
relocate for_each_mem_pfn_range() and helper from mm.h to memblock.h
as page_alloc.c would no longer host an alternative implementation.This change is ultimately one to one mapping and shouldn't cause any
observable difference; however, after the recent changes, there are
some functions which now would fit memblock.c better than page_alloc.c
and dependency on HAVE_MEMBLOCK_NODE_MAP instead of HAVE_MEMBLOCK
doesn't make much sense on some of them. Further cleanups for
functions inside HAVE_MEMBLOCK_NODE_MAP in mm.h would be nice.-v2: Fix compile bug introduced by mis-spelling
CONFIG_HAVE_MEMBLOCK_NODE_MAP to CONFIG_MEMBLOCK_HAVE_NODE_MAP in

Most arches define CONFIG_DEBUG_STACK_USAGE exactly the same way. Move it
to lib/Kconfig.debug so each arch doesn't have to define it. This
obviously makes the option generic, but that's fine because the config is
already used in generic code.It's not obvious to me that sysrq-P actually does anything caution by
keeping the most inclusive wording.Signed-off-by: Stephen Boyd

The meaning of CONFIG_EMBEDDED has long since been obsoleted; the option
is used to configure any non-standard kernel with a much larger scope than
only small devices.This patch renames the option to CONFIG_EXPERT in init/Kconfig and fixes
references to the option throughout the kernel. A new CONFIG_EMBEDDED
option is added that automatically selects CONFIG_EXPERT when enabled and
can be used in the future to isolate options that should only be
considered for embedded systems (RISC architectures, SLOB, etc).Calling the option "EXPERT" more accurately represents its intention: only
expert users who understand the impact of the configuration changes they
are making should enable it.Reviewed-by: Ingo Molnar

Fix the IRQ flag handling naming. In linux/irqflags.h under one configuration,
it maps:local_irq_enable() -> raw_local_irq_enable()
local_irq_disable() -> raw_local_irq_disable()
local_irq_save() -> raw_local_irq_save()
...and under the other configuration, it maps:
raw_local_irq_enable() -> local_irq_enable()
raw_local_irq_disable() -> local_irq_disable()
raw_local_irq_save() -> local_irq_save()
...This is quite confusing. There should be one set of names expected of the
arch, and this should be wrapped to give another set of names that are expected
by users of this facility.Change this to have the arch provide:
flags = arch_local_save_flags()
flags = arch_local_irq_save()
arch_local_irq_restore(flags)
arch_local_irq_disable()
arch_local_irq_enable()
arch_irqs_disabled_flags(flags)
arch_irqs_disabled()
arch_safe_halt()Then linux/irqflags.h wraps these to provide:
raw_local_save_flags(flags)
raw_local_irq_save(flags)
raw_local_irq_restore(flags)
raw_local_irq_disable()
raw_local_irq_enable()
raw_irqs_disabled_flags(flags)
raw_irqs_disabled()
raw_safe_halt()with type checking on the flags 'arguments', and then wraps those to provide:
local_save_flags(flags)
local_irq_save(flags)
local_irq_restore(flags)
local_irq_disable()
local_irq_enable()
irqs_disabled_flags(flags)
irqs_disabled()
safe_halt()with tracing included if enabled.

Make do_execve() take a const filename pointer so that kernel_execve() compiles
correctly on ARM:arch/arm/kernel/sys_arm.c:88: warning: passing argument 1 of 'do_execve' discards qualifiers from pointer target type
This also requires the argv and envp arguments to be consted twice, once for
the pointer array and once for the strings the array points to. This is
because do_execve() passes a pointer to the filename (now const) to
copy_strings_kernel(). A simpler alternative would be to cast the filename
pointer in do_execve() when it's passed to copy_strings_kernel().do_execve() may not change any of the strings it is passed as part of the argv
or envp lists as they are some of them in .rodata, so marking these strings as
const should be fine.Further kernel_execve() and sys_execve() need to be changed to match.
This has been test built on x86_64, frv, arm and mips.

It is now possible to assign options to AS, CC and LD
on the command line - which is only used when building modules.{A,C,LD}FLAGS_MODULE was all used both in the top-level Makefile
in the arch makefiles, thus users had no way to specify
additional options to AS, CC, LD when building modules
without overriding the original value.Introduce a new set of variables KBUILD_{A,C,LD}FLAGS_MODULE
that is used by arch specific files and free up
{A,C,LD}FLAGS_MODULE so they can be assigned on
the command line.All arch Makefiles that used the old variables has been updated.
Note: Previously we had a MODFLAGS variable for both
AS and CC. But in favour of consistency this was dropped.
So in some cases arch Makefile has one assignmnet replaced by
two assignmnets.Note2: MODFLAGS was not documented and is dropped
without any notice. I do not expect much/any breakage
from this.Signed-off-by: Sam Ravnborg

This is the first half of the attempt to use asm-generic/scatterlist.h

The trick for ISA_DMA_THRESHOLD in asm-generic/scatterlist.h doesn't work
