  • lib: use generic pci_iomap on all architectures

    Many architectures don't want to pull in iomap.c,
    so they ended up duplicating pci_iomap from that file.
    That function isn't trivial, and we are going to modify it
    https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/11/14/183
    so the duplication hurts.

    This reduces the scope of the problem significantly,
    by moving pci_iomap to a separate file and
    referencing that from all architectures.

  • Change them over to plain "ETHERNET"

  • The 802.1X EAPOL handshake hostapd does requires
    knowing whether the frame was ack'ed by the peer.
    Currently, we fudge this pretty badly by not even
    transmitting the frame as a normal data frame but
    injecting it with radiotap and getting the status
    out of radiotap monitor as well. This is rather
    complex, confuses users (mon.wlan0 presence) and
    doesn't work with all hardware.

    To get rid of that hack, introduce a real wifi TX
    status option for data frame transmissions.

    This works similar to the existing TX timestamping
    in that it reflects the SKB back to the socket's
    error queue with a SCM_WIFI_STATUS cmsg that has
    an int indicating ACK status (0/1).

    Since it is possible that at some point we will
    want to have TX timestamping and wifi status in a
    single errqueue SKB (there's little point in not
    doing that), redefine SO_EE_ORIGIN_TIMESTAMPING
    to SO_EE_ORIGIN_TXSTATUS which can collect more
    than just the timestamp; keep the old constant
    as an alias of course. Currently the internal APIs
    don't make that possible, but it wouldn't be hard
    to split them up in a way that makes it possible.

    Thanks to Neil Horman for helping me figure out
    the functions that add the control messages.

  • These comments mention CONFIG options that do not exist: not as a symbol
    in a Kconfig file (without the CONFIG_ prefix) and neither as a symbol
    (with that prefix) in the code.

    There's one reference to XSCALE_PMU_TIMER as a negative dependency.
    But XSCALE_PMU_TIMER is never defined (CONFIG_XSCALE_PMU_TIMER is
    also unused in the code). It shows up with type "unknown" if you search
    for it in menuconfig. Apparently a negative dependency on an unknown
    symbol is always true. That negative dependency can be removed too.

  • MII Kconfig option is apart of the core networking drivers and
    by default NET_CORE is enabled so drivers selecting MII will
    have MII enabled as well. It was found using the randconfig
    option during testing, MII would be selected but NET_CORE
    could be disabled. This caused a dependency error.

    Resolved the dependency by selecting NET_CORE when MII is
    selected.

  • Recall the recently added prefix requirements:
    * "NAND_" for flags in nand.h, used in nand_chip.options
    * "NAND_BBT_" for flags in bbm.h, used in nand_chip.bbt_options
    or in nand_bbt_descr.options

    Thus, I am changing NAND_USE_FLASH_BBT to NAND_BBT_USE_FLASH.

    Again, this flag is found in bbm.h and so should NOT be used in the
    "nand_chip.options" field.

  • This patch works with the following three flags from two headers (nand.h
    and bbm.h):
    (1) NAND_USE_FLASH_BBT (nand.h)
    (2) NAND_USE_FLASH_BBT_NO_OOB (nand.h)
    (3) NAND_BBT_NO_OOB (bbm.h)

    These flags are all related and interdependent, yet they were in
    different headers. Flag (2) is simply the combination of (1) and (3) and
    can be eliminated.

    This patch accomplishes the following:
    * eliminate NAND_USE_FLASH_BBT_NO_OOB (i.e., flag (2))
    * move NAND_USE_FLASH_BBT (i.e., flag (1)) to bbm.h

    It's important to note that because (1) and (3) are now both found in
    bbm.h, they should NOT be used in the "nand_chip.options" field.

    I removed a small section from the mtdnand DocBook because it referes to
    NAND_USE_FLASH_BBT in nand.h, which has been moved to bbm.h.

  • After changing all consumers of atomics to include , we
    ran into some compile time errors due to this dependency chain:

    linux/atomic.h
    -> asm/atomic.h
    -> asm-generic/atomic-long.h

    where atomic-long.h could use funcs defined later in linux/atomic.h
    without a prototype. This patches moves the code that includes
    asm-generic/atomic*.h to linux/atomic.h.

    Archs that need need to select
    CONFIG_GENERIC_ATOMIC64 from now on (some of them used to include it
    unconditionally).
