The 802.1X EAPOL handshake hostapd does requires
knowing whether the frame was ack'ed by the peer.
Currently, we fudge this pretty badly by not even
transmitting the frame as a normal data frame but
injecting it with radiotap and getting the status
out of radiotap monitor as well. This is rather
complex, confuses users (mon.wlan0 presence) and
doesn't work with all hardware.To get rid of that hack, introduce a real wifi TX
status option for data frame transmissions.This works similar to the existing TX timestamping
in that it reflects the SKB back to the socket's
error queue with a SCM_WIFI_STATUS cmsg that has
an int indicating ACK status (0/1).Since it is possible that at some point we will
want to have TX timestamping and wifi status in a
single errqueue SKB (there's little point in not
doing that), redefine SO_EE_ORIGIN_TIMESTAMPING
to SO_EE_ORIGIN_TXSTATUS which can collect more
than just the timestamp; keep the old constant
as an alias of course. Currently the internal APIs
don't make that possible, but it wouldn't be hard
to split them up in a way that makes it possible.Thanks to Neil Horman for helping me figure out

After changing all consumers of atomics to include , we
ran into some compile time errors due to this dependency chain:linux/atomic.h
-> asm/atomic.h
-> asm-generic/atomic-long.hwhere atomic-long.h could use funcs defined later in linux/atomic.h
without a prototype. This patches moves the code that includes
asm-generic/atomic*.h to linux/atomic.h.Archs that need need to select
CONFIG_GENERIC_ATOMIC64 from now on (some of them used to include it
unconditionally).Compile tested on i386 and x86_64 with allnoconfig.

This patch moves the in-tree architectures that were using the 'generic'
delay.h over to using the header file in asm-generic.This is not done using the generic-y mechanism as none of these arch's
have started using that mechanism yet. This is a trivial change to make
later when the arch begins using generic-y.Note the subtle change to the avr32 and SH architectures where the argument
to __const_udelay was previously using the rounded down constant value

at closely and I can't find any problems.setns is an easy system call to wire up. It just takes two ints so I
don't expect any weird architecture porting problems.While doing this I have noticed that we have some architectures that are
very slow to get new system calls. cris seems to be the slowest where
the last system calls wired up were preadv and pwritev. avr32 is weird
in that recvmmsg was wired up but never declared in unistd.h. frv is
behind with perf_event_open being the last syscall wired up. On h8300
the last system call wired up was epoll_wait. On m32r the last system
call wired up was fallocate. mn10300 has recvmmsg as the last system
call wired up. The rest seem to at least have syncfs wired up which was
new in the 2.6.39.v2: Most of the architecture support added by Daniel Lezcano

The ATAG_BOARDINFO is intended to hand over the information
bd->bi_board_number from u-boot to the kernel.This piece of information can be used to implement some kind of board
identification while booting the kernel. Therefore it is placed in .initdata
section and can be accessed via the new symbol board_number only while

minix bit operations are only used by minix filesystem and useless by
other modules. Because byte order of inode and block bitmaps is different
on each architecture like below:m68k:

native byte order bitmaps (h8300, microblaze, s390, sparc, m68knommu,
m32r, mips, sh, xtensa). The architectures which always use little-endian
bitmaps do not select these options.Finally, we can remove minix bit operations from asm/bitops.h for all

This patch will fix the arguments to the architecture sys_clone() function to
match the asm-generic/syscalls.h prototype. In the same go remove the
architecture specific prototype for the same function.The sys_clone() function is only called from assembly, hence the argument types

Fix the IRQ flag handling naming. In linux/irqflags.h under one configuration,
it maps:local_irq_enable() -> raw_local_irq_enable()
local_irq_disable() -> raw_local_irq_disable()
local_irq_save() -> raw_local_irq_save()
...and under the other configuration, it maps:
raw_local_irq_enable() -> local_irq_enable()
raw_local_irq_disable() -> local_irq_disable()
raw_local_irq_save() -> local_irq_save()
...This is quite confusing. There should be one set of names expected of the
arch, and this should be wrapped to give another set of names that are expected
by users of this facility.Change this to have the arch provide:

Architectures implement dma_is_consistent() in different ways (some
misinterpret the definition of API in DMA-API.txt). So it hasn't been so
useful for drivers. We have only one user of the API in tree. Unlikely
out-of-tree drivers use the API.Even if we fix dma_is_consistent() in some architectures, it doesn't look
useful at all. It was invented long ago for some old systems that can't
allocate coherent memory at all. It's better to export only APIs that are
definitely necessary for drivers.Let's remove this API.

dma_get_cache_alignment returns the minimum DMA alignment. Architectures
defines it as ARCH_DMA_MINALIGN (formally ARCH_KMALLOC_MINALIGN). So we
can unify dma_get_cache_alignment implementations.Note that some architectures implement dma_get_cache_alignment wrongly.
dma_get_cache_alignment() should return the minimum DMA alignment. So
fully-coherent architectures should return 1. This patch also fixes this

Now each architecture has the own dma_get_cache_alignment implementation.
dma_get_cache_alignment returns the minimum DMA alignment. Architectures
define it as ARCH_KMALLOC_MINALIGN (it's used to make sure that malloc'ed
buffer is DMA-safe; the buffer doesn't share a cache with the others). So
we can unify dma_get_cache_alignment implementations.This patch:
dma_get_cache_alignment() needs to know if an architecture defines
ARCH_KMALLOC_MINALIGN or not (needs to know if architecture has DMA
alignment restriction). However, slab.h define ARCH_KMALLOC_MINALIGN if
architectures doesn't define it.Let's rename ARCH_KMALLOC_MINALIGN to ARCH_DMA_MINALIGN.
ARCH_KMALLOC_MINALIGN is used only in the internals of slab/slob/slub

These are the changes needed for the kernel to support
LINEMODE in the server.There is a new bit in the termios local flag word, EXTPROC.
When this bit is set, several aspects of the terminal driver
are disabled. Input line editing, character echo, and mapping
of signals are all disabled. This allows the telnetd to turn
off these functions when in linemode, but still keep track of
what state the user wants the terminal to be in.New ioctl:
TIOCSIG Generate a signal to processes in the
current process group of the pty.There is a new mode for packet driver, the TIOCPKT_IOCTL bit.
When packet mode is turned on in the pty, and the EXTPROC bit
is set, then whenever the state of the pty is changed, the
next read on the master side of the pty will have the TIOCPKT_IOCTL
bit set. This allows the process on the server side of the pty
to know when the state of the terminal has changed; it can then
issue the appropriate ioctl to retrieve the new state.Since the original BSD patches accompanied the source code for telnet
I've left that reference here, but obviously the feature is useful for
any remote terminal protocol, including ssh.The corresponding feature has existed in the BSD tty driver since 1989.

As Jeff Dike pointed out, the Hayes ESP driver was removed in commit
f53a2ade0bb9f2a81f473e6469155172a96b7c38, so these ioctl definitions
should also be removed. This cleans up the remaining arch-specific
locations of this ioctl value.Thanks to Arnd for pointing these out.

This patch fixes a build failure [1-4] in the atmel_serial code introduced by
patch the patch ARM: 6092/1: atmel_serial: support for RS485
communications (e8faff7330a3501eafc9bfe5f4f15af444be29f5)The build failure was caused by missing struct field and missing defines

On 64bit, local_t is of size long, and thus we make local64_t an alias.
On 32bit, we fall back to atomic64_t. (architecture can provide optimized
32-bit version)(This new facility is to be used by perf events optimizations.)
