vfs_create() ignores everything outside of 16bit subset of its
mode argument; switching it to umode_t is obviously equivalent
and it's the only caller of the methodSigned-off-by: Al Viro

vfs_mkdir() gets int, but immediately drops everything that might not
fit into umode_t and that's the only caller of ->mkdir()...Signed-off-by: Al Viro

Only a few file systems need this. Start by pushing it down into each
rename method (except gfs2 and xfs) so that it can be dealt with on a

Reduce some branches and memory accesses in dcache lookup by adding dentry
flags to indicate common d_ops are set, rather than having to check them.
This saves a pointer memory access (dentry->d_op) in common path lookup
situations, and saves another pointer load and branch in cases where we
have d_op but not the particular operation.Patched with:
git grep -E '[.>]([[:space:]])*d_op([[:space:]])*=' | xargs sed -e 's/\([^\t ]*\)->d_op = \(.*\);/d_set_d_op(\1, \2);/' -e 's/\([^\t ]*\)\.d_op = \(.*\);/d_set_d_op(\&\1, \2);/' -i

Change d_hash so it may be called from lock-free RCU lookups. See similar
patch for d_compare for details. For in-tree filesystems, this is just a mechanical change.

Stop the SYSV filesystem from using iget() and read_inode(). Replace
sysv_read_inode() with sysv_iget(), and call that instead of iget().
sysv_iget() then uses iget_locked() directly and returns a proper error code
instead of an inode in the event of an error.[akpm@linux-foundation.org: coding-style fixes]

Many struct inode_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const
moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential
dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to
these shared resources.Signed-off-by: Arjan van de Ven

When a filesystem decrements i_nlink to zero, it means that a write must be
performed in order to drop the inode from the filesystem. We're shortly going to have keep filesystems from being remounted r/o between
the time that this i_nlink decrement and that write occurs. So, add a little helper function to do the decrements. We'll tie into it in a
bit to note when i_nlink hits zero.Signed-off-by: Dave Hansen

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.Let it rip!
