The stuff there is almost already at ReST format. A
conversion for them is trivial: just add a missing titles
and fix some scape codes for them to match ReST syntax.While here, rename the cdrom-standard.txt, with was converted

After a recent chat with Dave we agreed to try to finally kill off the
legacy IDE code base. Set a two year grace period in which we try
to move everyone over. There are a few pieces of hardware not
supported by libata yet, but for many of them we aren't even sure
if there are any users. For those that have users we have usually

This reverts commit 7eec77a1816a7042591a6cbdb4820e9e7ebffe0e.
Instead of leaving disk->events completely empty, we now export the
supported events again, and tell the block layer not to forward events
to user space by not setting DISK_EVENT_FLAG_UEVENT. This allows the
block layer to distinguish between devices that for which events should
be handled in kernel only, and devices which don't support any meda

mmiowb() is now implied by spin_unlock() on architectures that require
it, so there is no reason to call it from driver code. This patch was

synchronisation. If you've ended up bisecting to this commit, you can
reintroduce the mmiowb() calls using wmb() instead, which should restore
the old behaviour on all architectures other than some esoteric ia64

There's an issue with how sense requests are handled in IDE. If ide-cd
encounters an error, it queues a sense request. With how IDE request
handling is done, this is the next request we need to handle. But it's
impossible to guarantee this, as another request could come in between
the sense being queued, and ->queue_rq() being run and handling it. If
that request ALSO fails, then we attempt to doubly queue the single
sense request we have.Since we only support one active request at the time, defer request

The initial patch cleared this for all requests, which is wrong
since internal uses can't have this cleared as that's what they
are using to pass data. The fix moved the initialization to the
mq_ops->initialize_rq_fn(), but that's only a partial fix since
it only catches uses from blk_get_request(), not requests coming
from the file system.Keep the non-fs initialization, and add the IDE entry clear

With the legacy request path gone there is no good reason to keep

We can't use RQF_DONTPREP to see if we should clear ->special,
as someone could have set that while inserting the request. Make

The return value is just used as a binary yes/no decision, so switch
it to a bool instead of the old BLKPREP_* values returned as an int.Also clean up a few related comments.

ide-disk and ide-cd tested as working just fine, ide-tape and
ide-floppy haven't. But the latter don't require changes, so they
should work without issue.Add helper function to insert a request from a work queue, since we
