  • A number of platforms had been using the distro default feature before
it was moved to Kconfig but did not enable the new Kconfig option when
it was enabled. This caused a regression in terms of features and this
introduces breakage when more things move to Kconfig.

  • The DDR calibration routines are gated by conditionals for the
i.MX6DQ SOCs, but with the use of the sysinfo parameter, these
are usable on at least i.MX6SDL and i.MX6SL variants with DDR3.

Also, since only the Novena board currently uses the dynamic
DDR calibration routines, these routines waste space on other
    boards using SPL.

Add a KConfig entry to allow boards to selectively include the
    DDR calibration routines.

  • Move CONFIG_USB_GADGET_DUALSPEED option to Kconfig and
make all UDC controllers select USB_GADGET_DUALSPEED:
    - add next options to Kconfig selecting USB_GADGET_DUALSPEED:
    - USB_GADGET_ATMEL_USBA
    - USB_GADGET_DWC2_OTG
    - USB_DWC3
    - CI_UDC
    - make USB_MUSB_GADGET select USB_GADGET_DUALSPEED

While at it, make some related fixes:
    - remove DUALSPEED from configs that don't enable gadget support:
    - kwb.h
    - tseries.h
    - add missing USB_GADGET option to next configs:
    - novena_defconfig
    - pcm051_rev*_defconfig
    - xfi3_defconfig

  • There are already two FIT options in Kconfig but the CONFIG options are
still in the header files. We need to do a proper move to fix this.

Move these options to Kconfig and tidy up board configuration:

    CONFIG_FIT
    CONFIG_OF_BOARD_SETUP
    CONFIG_OF_SYSTEM_SETUP
    CONFIG_FIT_SIGNATURE
    CONFIG_FIT_BEST_MATCH
    CONFIG_FIT_VERBOSE
    CONFIG_OF_STDOUT_VIA_ALIAS
    CONFIG_RSA

Unfortunately the first one is a little complicated. We need to make sure
this option is not enabled in SPL by this change. Also this option is
enabled automatically in the host builds by defining CONFIG_FIT in the
image.h file. To solve this, add a new IMAGE_USE_FIT #define which can
be used in files that are built on the host but must also build for U-Boot
    and SPL.

Note: Masahiro's moveconfig.py script is amazing.

  • Move TARGET_xx Kconfig option based on mx6 to arch/arm/cpu/armv7/mx6/Kconfig.
Add enable "CONFIG_ARCH_MX6" for boards based on mx6.
Then we can choose target boards using "make ARCH=arm menuconfig"
    with ARCH_MX6 defined.

If using original way, we have no chance to enable ARCH_MX6 when
"make menuconfig". Even define CONFIG_ARCH_MX6=y in xx_defconfig,
    kconfig will complains "arch/../configs/platinum_titanium_defconfig:3:
warning: override: TARGET_PLATINUM_TITANIUM changes choice state"

  • In order to reduce merge conflicts and to maintain the simplest possible
defconfig files, we should be using the savedefconfig feature of Kconfig
every time a new feature is added. This keeps the defconfig settings to
a minimum (only those things not default) and keeps them in the same
    order as the Kconfig options.
